Do you know a joke about a programmer that is working on software that has been running for 25 years?
Here is a joke about a programmer working on software that has been running for 25 years:
A programmer is working on a piece of software that has been running for 25 years without any problems. As he is making some updates, he suddenly realizes that the software is using an outdated version of a third-party library.
He starts to panic and wonders how he is going to update the library without causing any problems in the software. Just then, he gets a call from the software's user, who says, "I don't know if you're aware of this, but the software has been running for 25 years without any problems. Why are you messing with it now?"
The programmer replies, "Well, I just noticed that we're using an outdated version of a library, and I want to make sure everything is up to date."
The user responds, "Outdated library? What are you talking about? The software has been running fine for 25 years. Just leave it alone and it will continue to run fine."
The programmer sighs and decides to leave the library as it is, knowing that the user is probably right. He thinks to himself, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
